The UK government is scrambling to stop an inflow of cheap labour and cheap workers it fears could devastate employment in certain sectors of Europe's largest economy.
Economics ministry officials told the Financial Times they were working on countermeasures to stop companies in the region using the single European market to flood uk with cheap workers. Some of these steps, they said, might be unveiled as early as Friday.
